Maureen P. Dougherty's expertise in New Jersey and federal tax matters has been gathered over more than three decades. Dougherty holds an LL.M. degree in Taxation (N.Y.U.), has practiced with law firms and taught federal and state tax courses in Masters in Taxation and M.B.A. Programs and in Law Schools. In 1993 Dougherty was appointed a Judge on the New Jersey Tax Court and served there until her return to the practice of federal and state tax in 1998.

Federal and State taxation are among the most complex areas of the law. Tax laws are adopted, amended and repealed at a pace far in excess of other areas. Dougherty's background in both federal and state taxation gives her an unususal and valuable perspective. Her unique experience enables her to safely navigate the maze of federal and state taxes, while identifying opportunities to minimize the impact of taxes on clients' business operations and in their personal planning matters. Her boutique practice offers tax planning services to individuals and small businesses; representation of taxpayers in controversies with the I.R.S. and the New Jersey Division of Taxation; and tax consultation to accounting firms and law firms.
